FAQS

  • Yes. The convoy format means every family has a support team within radio range. Children aged 6 and up are common on this tour. The daily drive is balanced with swim stops, camp games and the camel ride at Erg Chebbi. Car seats for small children can be arranged on request.

  • No. The tour is rated for beginners to intermediate drivers. On Day 4 your guide gives a full off-road briefing. On Day 6 at Erg Chebbi you get proper sand and dune driving instruction. By the end of the tour you will have driven mountain trails, dry riverbeds, gorge roads and full dunes.

  • Any modern SUV with low-range 4x4 and at least 220 mm of ground clearance. Common choices: Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover Defender and Discovery, Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes G-Class. If you do not own one, rent a Land Rover Defender from us for €180/day.

  • Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). This departure is the Easter slot — daytime temperatures on the coast and in the mountains are 18–25 °C, and the desert drops to a cool 10 °C at night. Summer is too hot in Erg Chebbi for comfortable camping.

  • Full tour organisation, English-speaking guide, all permit fees, all hotel and camping overnight stays, breakfast and dinner from the expedition kitchen, radio devices, sand and dune driving instruction, on-trail technical support, and a full tour folder with packing and checklist. Fuel, ferry and vehicle rental are not included but can be booked through us.

  • This tour is guided — a lead vehicle and a support vehicle stay with the group every day. If you want a pure self-drive 4x4 tour Morocco format without a guide, ask about our GPS tracks and route notes. Most families prefer the guided convoy for the desert stretch.

  • Three options from Europe: Genoa to Tangier (two-day crossing), Barcelona to Tangier (one day), or Algeciras to Tangier Med (about two hours). The return ferry leaves Nador on the last Wednesday of the tour. We book all ferries for you on request — it is the easiest way to line up the timing.
